The Miramichi Folksong Festival first took place in September of 1958 as Louise Manny’s response to Lord Beaverbrook’s request to document the traditional songs of his boyhood home.

Brothers James and Gilbert Ganong saw an opportunity in St. James’ booming local industries in 1873. The brothers decided to build a chocolates and confectionery store, and little did they know that would put St. Stephen on the map.
Fast forward to today, Ganong celebrates its 150 years of history through an annual Chocolate Fest every August.
